Pemerintah Indonesia Mengapresiasi Politeknik Pertama di Indonesia Bagian Timur || The Indonesian Government Appreciates the First Polytechnic in Eastern Indonesia
MANGGARAI BARAT- Direktur Jenderal Kelembagan Iptek dan Dikti Kemenristekdikti Patdono Suwignjo mengapresiasi berdirinya Politeknik elBajo Commodus Jum’at 1 Maret 2019 di Labuan Bajo, Manggarai Barat, Nusa Tenggara Timur. Pemerintah mengapresiasi berdirinya pendidikan tinggi vokasi pertama di Manggarai Barat ini karena belum banyak pendidikan tinggi vokasi di Indonesia Timur. || WEST MANGGARAI- Director General of Science and Technology Institution and Higher Education, Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, Patdono Suwignjo, appreciated the establishment of the elBajo Commodus Polytechnic on Friday 1 March 2019 in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara. The government appreciates the establishment of the first vocational higher education in West Manggarai because there is not much vocational higher education in Eastern Indonesia.
Hal itu disampaikan Patdono saat meresmikan Politeknik ElBajo Commodus yang khusus mengembangkan pendidikan vokasi di bidang pariwisata. Peresmian ditandai dengan menandatangani prasasti serta memberikan kuliah umum. Hadir Bupati Manggarai Barat Agustinus C.Dula, Kepala Lembaga Layanan Pendidikan Tinggi Wilayah VII Bali dan NTB I Nengah Dasi Astawa, Kepala Yayasan Anak Bangkit Negeriku Novita Halim, Direktur Politeknik ElBajo Commodus Teddy Halim serta sejumlah dosen dan mahasiswa. || Patdono conveyed this when inaugurating the ElBajo Commodus Polytechnic which specifically develops vocational education in the tourism sector. The inauguration was marked by signing inscriptions and giving public lectures. Present were the Regent of West Manggarai Agustinus C.Dula, Head of the Higher Education Service Institute Region VII Bali and NTB I Nengah Dasi Astawa, Head of the Anak Bangker Negeriku Novita Halim Foundation, Director of the ElBajo Commodus Polytechnic Teddy Halim as well as a number of lecturers and students.
Patdono Suwignjo secara khusus menyampaikan terimakasih atas inisiatif dari Keluarga Besar Ibu Novi atas pembangunan politeknik tersebut. “Untuk itu kami atasnama pemerintah mengucapkan banyak terimakasih setiap usaha usaha yang membantu pemerintah di dalam mencerdaskan kehidupan bangsa ini “ jelasnya. || Patdono Suwignjo specifically expressed his gratitude for the initiative of Mrs. Novi’s extended family for the construction of the polytechnic. “For this reason, on behalf of the government, we would like to thank you very much for every effort that helps the government in making the life of this nation smarter “ he explained.
Saat menyampaikan kuliah umum, Patdono mengatakan bahwa angka partisipasi kasar pendidikan tinggi di Indonesia terkecil di bandingkan Malaysia, Singapura, apalagi dengan Korea Selatan. Pemerintah tidak mempunyai kekuatan untuk membangun perguruan tingginya sendiri, dan partisipasi dari masyarakat sangat diharapkan. Tercatat perguruan tinggi yang didirikan oleh pemerintah itu hanya seperlima dari perguruan tinggi yang ada. Selebihnya 80% perguruan tinggi didirikan oleh masyarakat atau swasta. || When delivering a public lecture, Patdono said that the gross enrollment rate for higher education in Indonesia was the smallest compared to Malaysia, Singapore, let alone South Korea. The government did not have the power to build its own college, and participation from the community was desirable. It is recorded that only one fifth of the universities founded by the government are existing universities. The remaining 80% of universities are founded by the public or private sector.
Patdono menambahkan, bahwa Labuan Bajo ini menjadi pusat pertumbuhan ekonomi di bidang pariwisata. Karena sudah ada pihak swasta yaitu Yayasan Bangkit Anak Negeriku yang mendirikan Politeknik ElBajo Commodus, maka pemerintah tidak perlu membuat perguruan tinggi lagi. Politeknik eLBajo Commodus memiliki Progam Studi Sarjana Terapan (D4) Pengelolahan Perhotelan, Diploma III Perhotelan dan Diploma III Ekowisata. || Patdono added that Labuan Bajo is the center of economic growth in the tourism sector. Because there is already a private party, namely the Bangkit Anak Negeriiku Foundation, which founded ElBajo Commodus Polytechnic, the government does not need to create any more universities. eLBajo Commodus Polytechnic has an Applied Undergraduate Study Program (D4) in Hospitality Management, Diploma III in Hospitality and Diploma III in Ecotourism.
Patdono menjelaskan bahwa salah satu kelemahan pendidikan tinggi di Indonesia ini adalah masih sedikitnya perguruan tinggi maupun minat masyarakat yang mau masuk di pendidikan politeknik. Perguruan tinggi di Indonesia itu ada tiga macam pertama adalah pendidikan akademik yang bentuknya universitas tujuanya untuk mengembangkan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi dan berharap lulusanya menjadi peneliti. Yang kedua pergurusan tinggi vokasi bentuknya politeknik tujuanya untuk menghasilkan tenaga terampil yang ketiga perguruan tinggi profesi. || Patdono explained that one of the weaknesses of higher education in Indonesia is that there are still few universities and people’s interest in entering polytechnic education. There are three types of higher education in Indonesia, the first is academic education, the aim of which is university to develop science and technology and hope that graduates become researchers. The second is that vocational higher education is in the form of polytechnics, the aim is to produce skilled workers from the third is professional higher education.
Di semua negara yang industrinya maju ekonominya maju jumlah perguruan tinggi politekniknya itu mesti lebih banyak daripada universitas. Di Indonesia ini justru kebalikanya, universitasnya lebih banyak dibanding pendidikan vokasi. Indonesia memilik perguruan tinggi vokasi 262 politeknik dan non politeknik 4.560 buah. Karena itu, “kita membuat progam revitalisasi vokasi yang tujuanya agar bahwa jumlah politeknik di Indonesia harus di tingkatkan jumlahnya, mutu politeknik harus diperbaiki sehingga lulusan SMA dan SMK kalau di tanya setelah lulus ingin melanjutkan kuliah dimana, idealnya adalah lebih dari 60% menyatakan ingin sekolah di politeknik,” jelasnya. || In all countries where the economy is advanced, the number of polytechnic universities must be greater than universities. In Indonesia, on the contrary, there are more universities than vocational education. Indonesia has 262 vocational universities and 4,560 non-polytechnics. Therefore, “we created a vocational revitalization program whose aim is that the number of polytechnics in Indonesia must be increased, the quality of polytechnics must be improved so that high school and vocational school graduates, if asked after graduating, want to continue their studies, ideally more than 60% would say they want to go to polytechnics,” he explained.
Lebih lanjut, Patdono menyampaikan awal tahun 2019 Kemenristekdikti akan mengirim 105 mahasiswa lulusan D2 maupun D3 politeknik Indonesia untuk melanjutkan kuliah di Taiwan. Nantinya mahasiswa tersebut mendapatkan ijazah dari Taiwan dan perguruan tinggi di Indonesia. Mahasiswa-mahasiswa tersebut hanya membayar biaya kuliah di indonesia saja dan selama kuliah di Taiwan gratis bahkan sudah bisa menghasilkan uang karena sebagian waktunya dipakai untuk magang di industri. 105 mahasiswa ini mengikuti progam yang namanya two plus two dengan perguruan tinggi Taiwan. || Furthermore, Patdono said that at the beginning of 2019 the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education would send 105 students who graduated from D2 and D3 at Indonesian Polytechnics to continue their studies in Taiwan. Later, these students will receive diplomas from Taiwan and universities in Indonesia. These students only pay tuition fees in Indonesia and while studying in Taiwan it is free they can even make money because some of their time is spent interning in industry. These 105 students took part in a program called two plus two with Taiwanese universities.
Menurut Patdono, salah satu ciri politeknik itu adalah keterlibatan industrinya itu sangat besar. “Untuk itu saya menghimbau industri yang terkait dengan pariwisata yang ada di Labuan Bajo ini mau bekerjasama dengan politeknik ElBajo Commodus ini, diantaranya dengan merumuskan kurikulumnya untuk memenuhi kompetensi yang diinginkan. Untuk itu, dosenya minimum lima puluh persen dari praktisi industri pariwisata di sini,” pungkasnya. || According to Patdono, one of the characteristics of the polytechnic is that its industrial involvement is very large. “For this reason, I urge industries related to tourism in Labuan Bajo to collaborate with ElBajo Commodus polytechnic, including by formulating the curriculum to fulfill the desired competencies. For this reason, the lecturer is a minimum of fifty percent from tourism industry practitioners here,” he concluded.
Sementara itu, Bupati Manggarai Barat Agustinus C. Dula menyampaikan rasa bangga dan terimakasih banyak serta rasa hormat karena peresmian Politeknik elBajo Commodus yang sudah direncanakaan sejak lama. Kehadiran politeknik ini membuat pihaknya merasa ada harapan karena perguruan tinggi merupakan mahkota dari sebuah ibukota sehingga harga diri Manggarai Barat bisa terangkat martabatnya. || Meanwhile, West Manggarai Regent Agustinus C. Dula expressed his pride and thanks and respect for the inauguration of elBajo Commodus Polytechnic which he had planned for a long time. The presence of this polytechnic makes his party feel there is hope because higher education is the crown of a capital so that West Manggarai’s dignity can be raised.
Bupati berharap dengan kehadiran politeknik ini mampu mengangkat kelas pariwisata di wilayah tersebut menjadi setara dengan wisata dunia lainnnya. Diharapkan dengan adanya politeknik ini menciptakan sumber daya manusia yang nanti bisa mengimbangi perkembangan obyek pariwisata Labuan Bajo dan Pulau Komodo yang terus berkembang ke kelas dunia. || The Regent hopes that the presence of this polytechnic will be able to raise the tourism class in the area to be equivalent to other world tourism. It is hoped that the existence of this polytechnic will create human resources which will later be able to keep up with the development of the Labuan Bajo and Komodo Island tourism objects which continue to develop to world class.
