Labuan Bajo, August 23, 2024 – eLBajo Commodus Polytechnic successfully held the 2024 Student Week Program (SWP), an orientation program for new students that took place from August 19–23, 2024. This event aimed to introduce new students to campus life, academic values, and the various facilities and services available at eLBajo Commodus Polytechnic.
This year’s SWP 2024 was attended by more than 100 new students from various degree programs at eLBajo Commodus Polytechnic. Over the course of five days, the students were taught about academic ethics and campus regulations, and were introduced to the professors and faculty members who will guide them throughout their studies.
The program also features a variety of engaging activities, such as motivational seminars, soft skills workshops, campus tours, and introductory sessions with student organizations. In addition, students are encouraged to participate in various social activities and competitions designed to strengthen bonds among students.
In his opening remarks, the Director of eLBajo Commodus Polytechnic, Prof. Dr. I Nengah Dasi Astawa, M.Si., stated that Student Week is an important opportunity for new students to adapt to the college environment. “We hope that through this event, new students will be better prepared to face the challenges of higher education and build strong relationships with their peers and faculty members,” he said.
On the first day of SWP, August 19, 2024, new students received a briefing directly from the Regent of West Manggarai, Mr. Edistasius Endi, S.E. Beginning his remarks in the spirit of Indonesia’s Independence Day, Regent Edistasius Endi delivered a profound message to the new students of eLBajo Commodus Polytechnic. He encouraged the students to become agents of change within their communities. “Students must be true to themselves and not be swayed by their surroundings. Serve the community wholeheartedly and strive to be outstanding individuals,” he emphasized. He also stressed the importance of character education, work ethic, and social skills. “Make the most of this opportunity to attend college. Do not let your parents’ hopes go to waste,” he added.
Also in attendance was Mr. Stefanus Jemsifori, STP, Head of the West Manggarai Department of Tourism, Creative Economy, and Culture (Disparekrafbud), who served as a guest speaker.
The second day of the SWP began with an inspirational session led by Mr. Aden Firman from Videoge Arts and Society, followed by a discussion on the need for soft skills and hard skills in the industry led by Mr. Suryadi from Ayana Komodo Resort, as well as a presentation by a PLC instructor.
Pada hari ketiga, mahasiswa baru juga diperkenalkan dengan Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa (BEM), Unit Kegiatan Mahasiswa (UKM), Duta Kampus, serta mengikuti sosialisasi terkait akademik dan keuangan kampus agar mahasiswa dapat memahami secara jelas dan menyeluruh tentang berbagai aspek penting dalam kehidupan perkuliahan.
On this fourth day, Dr. Fransiskus Xaverius Teguh, A.Md., MA., Acting Director of BPOLBF, participated in a workshop titled “Visioning, Concept & Strategy for Tourism Development in Labuan Bajo-Flores”; and each academic program introduced itself to the new students.
The event concluded with a closing ceremony attended by all new students, faculty, and staff of eLBajo Commodus Polytechnic. During the ceremony, the students were given the opportunity to showcase their creativity and share their experiences from the Student Week Program, which was marked by enthusiasm and excitement as they embarked on their academic journey.
eLBajo Commodus Polytechnic is committed to continuing to support students in their personal development, both academically and non-academically. The 2024 Student Week Program marks an important first step toward achieving that goal.
